Open for lunch, dinner and daily happy hour, Patton Maryland features a Southern inspired menu, with house-ground burgers and smoked meats, and celebrates the bounty from the garden with numerous vegetarian and vegan options and daily specials.
Jeffrey Emerson is Chef and General Manager of Patton Maryland, a southern-inspired restaurant focusing on comfort food and BBQ. Emerson is a self-proclaimed “career changer,” leaving his job as an analog chip manufacturer in Beaverton, Oregon for culinary school. He began his journey into the professional world of gastronomy, diving in as a line cook for several of Portland’s familial restaurants including Alba Osteria, Industrial Café, and Laslow’s Northwest. Emerson led the kitchen at Café Castagna for a year until taking a break to spend time with his daughter, while taking on day shifts at Ava Gene’s. He then became chef of Tucci in Lake Oswego, Oregon and was the opening chef at Buckman Public House in Southeast Portland in 2017. At Patton Maryland, Emerson explores, what he calls, America’s greatest contribution – BBQ – using the restaurant’s in-house smoker and fresh, seasonal ingredients. Some of his signature dishes include the BBQ Brisket, Cobb Salad and Pimento Cheese and hopes to incorporate more vegan and vegetarian friendly dishes in the coming months.
North Portland families are a short walk away to the family-friendly space, featuring a kids menu and dog-friendly patio. Every Monday night is ½ off all kids menu items, perfect for busy school nights!
